Avalara are recognised as one of the fastest growing and most trusted tax automation solution providers. In fact, they even won the European Tax Technology Form of the Year 2018 at the International Tax Review European Tax Awards.
We began working with Avalara in 2017, carrying out maintenance and compliance work. Then, in early 2019, we were requested to help setup a new floor which required the infrastructure and installation of partitioning; as a rapidly expanding business, they had recently acquired more space.
In June of 2019, Sussex & Surrey Partitioning began the design work for the project to refurbish and refit the 1st floor of their UK offices at Lancaster House. Having recently attained the 2nd and 3rd floor of the same building, they planned to temporarily move staff to the 2nd floor, whilst we undertook the refurbishment of the 1st floor.
Starting in September 2019, the project involved some extensive demolition of existing partitioning, including glass graphics and signage. In the Kitchen area, we were required to remove the cabinets, countertops, appliances and hand sink, as well as hanging lights and a ceiling rope fixture. Booths, walls, carpet tiles and the ceilings of their beach huts also needed dismantling.
In their place, we installed new partitions and all the required office furniture, comprising of 138 desks (including Drive Electric Height Adjustable Bench Desks and Executive Desks), office chairs, meeting room chairs, visitor chairs, pedestals, side chairs, and filing drawer cabinets. All fittings and furniture were consistent with Avalara’s corporate colour scheme and their high specifications. We also fitted a new, waterproof carpet that was sourced in the United Stated and needed to be shipped over to the UK. Furthermore, we configured the power and data for the new office set-up.

We were also tasked with some unique and interesting features by the client, including the installation of a bespoke feature kitchen complete with Tiki roof and designer lighting, granite work tops and a beer tap. Within the meeting rooms, we fitted acoustic wall panelling to remarkably increase noise reduction, and we also installed an aesthetically innovative reception desk.
The team at Sussex & Surrey Partitioning completed the project in December 2019, to the complete satisfaction of Avalara. We effortlessly overcame any difficulties associated with a project of this size and worked to a high standard, completing the project within the required time with the co-operation of our sister companies, Sussex Facilities Management and MPAT.
Avalara were so pleased with the outcome of the 1st Floor Project, they further engaged us to undertake the refurbishment and refit of the 2nd and 3rd Floors at Lancaster House. We are currently proceeding with the project and hope to update you soon with details.
